Portrait and research work in alpine ecology

Research interests

I study how ecological communities are shaped by both biotic interactions and abiotic drivers, and develop methods to disentangle these processes from observed patterns across spatial scales. My work combines theoretical modelling, spatially explicit data analyses, and trait- and network-based approaches to identify ecological process and they structure community across environment and scale.

    Methods and Approaches

  • Theoretical modelling: Virtual-ecologist simulations and mechanistic models that link ecological processes to emergent patterns.
  • Trait-based inference: Functional trait analyses to characterize species roles and community functioning.
  • Multi-scale spatial analysis: Integrated workflows that detect fine-scale spatial associations within species co-occurrence.
  • Network approaches: Reconstruction and analysis of biotic associations networks to study community structure and its variation across space and environmental gradients.
